guest post and a GIVEAWAY!!!

Hi Everyone! I'm Susan...the force behind Homeroad, Homeroad the Store and Library Lessons
I'm the mother of 4 girls and I've been married to my husband Jim for 20 years. I'm a full time teacher with the world's best job. Currently I work in the school library teaching classes to children in the primary grades. It's my lucky job to read to young children every day and teach them about some amazing authors and illustrators. I write about some of my lessons on my other site Library Lessons. I've always enjoyed crafting and decorating. I like to sew, make jewelry and do projects around the house. I'm always up for learning new things and I enjoy teaching what I know to others. I'm energized by working on my blog, I love creating and teaching others. My favorite is thrifting and turning junky finds into something spectacular!
This is a post I've done recently about creating your own SEED STAKES... for free! It's getting time to think about some early planting in this neck of the woods...and the warm weather can't come soon enough!
On my to-do list is to start some indoor seeds. I'm not a big gardener but a few herbs started from seed puts me in the Spring-time mood.  In my yard there are hundreds of  broken branches from this very long winter.
After reading my Martha Stewart Living Magazine this month, I was reminded of a good use for these sticks...  I've made these before and now Martha thinks it's a good idea too! I started out by breaking off a handful of sticks about the same length.
I got together the tools needed for this project, a pruner and a potato peeler
Note: Your may need a new potato peeler after this!
Next I got to work cutting... I trimmed the ends of each stick and used the potato peeler to shave off several slices of the bark.
Using permanent marker, I wrote the names of the seeds I'll be planting on each stick.
A spritz of spray Poly will keep the letters from fading in the sun. Stick the stakes in the soil and you're ready to grow!
Now I'm ready for some Spring-time herb planting
Bring on the sun and warm weather!
